Data Protection Compliance

DPDP Compliance Training

India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023 puts clear obligations on every organisation that processes personal data — and penalties of up to ₹250 crore for getting it wrong. We train your employees to handle personal data lawfully, recognise their obligations, and respond to data principals' rights requests and breach incidents correctly.

Overview

India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023 is not a future obligation — it is in force, and the organisations that process personal data are accountable now. The Act applies to any organisation that processes the digital personal data of individuals in India, regardless of where the organisation is based, and it places real obligations on the people doing the processing, not just the compliance team.

Penalties for non-compliance reach up to ₹250 crore per breach. But the more immediate risk for most organisations is the same one that drives most data incidents: employees who do not know what personal data is, what they are and are not allowed to do with it, or what to do when something goes wrong.

DPDP Compliance Training closes that gap. We build role-based programmes that teach your workforce — from frontline staff handling customer data to HR teams managing employee records to the finance teams processing PAN and Aadhaar — what the Act actually requires of them in their day-to-day work.

That means understanding what counts as personal data, when you need consent and how to handle its withdrawal, what a data principal has the right to ask for, and exactly how to escalate a breach or a rights request so the organisation meets its notification timelines. It also means your DPO and senior leadership understanding their accountability, their board-reporting obligations, and how to demonstrate compliance to the Data Protection Board of India.

The result is a workforce that handles data the right way because they understand why — and an organisation that can evidence that training when it matters.

Frequently asked questions

Is DPDP training mandatory for our organisation?

If your organisation processes personal data of individuals in India — customers, employees, or vendors — you are a Data Fiduciary under the DPDP Act. Significant Data Fiduciaries, which include large banks, NBFCs, insurers, and major technology platforms, are explicitly required to implement comprehensive data-governance measures including employee training. All Data Fiduciaries have obligations that require the workforce to understand and follow lawful processing practices.

Can the training be tailored to our sector?

Yes — and for DPDP it is especially important. The data flows, consent triggers, and breach scenarios faced by a bank differ substantially from those at a hospital or a technology company. We build the training around your actual systems, data categories, and customer and employee interactions.

Does this cover the rights of data principals?

In full. Every customer-facing employee, HR team member, and operations staff member learns how to identify a data principal rights request — access, correction, erasure, grievance redressal, or nomination of a nominee — and exactly what to do with it within the required timeframe.

What does the breach notification module cover?

Employees learn how to identify a potential personal data breach, who to escalate to immediately, and what the organisation's 72-hour notification obligation to the Data Protection Board of India means in practice. The goal is that no breach is missed or delayed because a frontline employee did not know what they were seeing.

How do you evidence the training for regulatory purposes?

We provide attendance records, assessment completion data, and pass rates by team and function in a format you can present to auditors, the Data Protection Board, or your board. We also help you build the internal policy and procedure documentation that sits alongside the training.
